I'm Attracted...

After an interesting conversation with a new friend, I found myself walking home from Macy's on 34th with an internal dialogue going on in my head. After discussing a series of topics earlier that day with E., we inevitabley made our way back to the juiciest of all:

Sex & Relationships.

That sturred up a variety of thoughts and questions in my head, but my main question to myself was:

What is it that attracts me to the opposite sex?


What is it that makes me feel those "Za Za Zoos" that we've all heard so famously (from Carrie Bradshaw of course) about?

Hmmmm. I decided I was going to ponder this if only for myself, as an excersice to come to terms, face reality and look at myself objectively.

Here goes...

I'm attracted to someone who finds those little ironies in life. Who notices them, those little twists that come to surface that others might ignore or be completely dense to recognize.

I'm attracted to someone who knows who they are, and isn't afraid to be who they are.

Someone who knows the formalities of the day, but isn't afraid to break those formalities for an amazing outcome.

I'm attracted to someone who can allow themselves to forget about their insecurities and get lost in time, floating along in a see of possitive energies that speaks to them. Who can also take hold of a moment, appreciating all the wonders of simplicity it holds.

I'm attracted to someone who knows what they want, and goes after it... Yet is choosey, taking important notice to detail in finding what they are looking for, unafraid of failure at the same time.

Do you ever really take the time to think about what makes you and another person tick? I feel like I just chalk it up to "chemestry", concluding that there is something about their look and their personality that combines to make an irresitable creature... And maybe that is true too. I know there are traits in someone's personality that I definitely fancy over others, but then again, do you ever wonder how you can have strong relationships with such completely different people...

I think there is something else that draws me to another, based on more than just the simplistic answer of "chemistry" or personality... Maybe there are underlying values to be considered... Maybe I just find certain people unique.
